YB Dato' Seri Idris Jusoh, Minister of Education II launched the first phase of the Big Data Competency Centres in Malaysia across 4 universities and 1 polytechnic in Malaysia - Universiti Utara Malaysia, Kedah (UUM), Universiti Sains Malaysia, Penang (USM), Universiti Malaysia Terengganu, Terengganu (UMT), Universiti Malaysia Sarawak, Sarawak (UNIMAS) and Politeknik Ibrahim Sultan, Johor (PIS).

The latest addition was recently launch at Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) in May 2017. Big Data Lab@UitM boasts for the most advanced lab where it is equipped with the latest and state-of-the-art facilities.

The Big Data Competency Centres is a joint initiative by the Ministry of Education (MOE) and Prestariang Group to provide a training platform to cultivate and drive talents towards supporting and strengthening the global growth of the Big Data industry today.
